On Saturday, 25th Feb 2023, the Nepalese Society of Community Medicine (NESCOM), Saraswatinagar Sudhar Sangh, and 738 Fitness jointly organized a program aimed at raising awareness of NCDs and mental illness and improving the health of the general public. The program included a parade with play cards, banners, and various health-related slogans, creating a joyful atmosphere. The slogan included “What should I eat every day? Eat nutritious food, vegetables, and fruits regularly. What should I do every day? Exercise regularly. What should I avoid? Don’t eat junk food. What should I never forget? Maintain discipline and avoid alcohol.” After the parade, a mass yoga session was held in the courtyard of the Saraswati Temple.
Prof. Dr. Rita Thapa, Executive Director, BTMF emphasized the importance of healthy eating habits and the benefits of not eating junk food. She demonstrated the various junk foods through experiential learning based on our BISHES Action Tool.
The program was held in Ward No. 6 of the Kathmandu Metropolitan City, and Ward Chairman Mr. Bhuvan Lama expressed his desire to organize such programs in other locations as well.
